SNETTERTON 200 13th October, Race Report – The Decider

The grid for Snetterton was a healthy 24 until I got a call from Brian Playford from the South of France off to a film location so at closing there were 23, then a cancellation from Martin Barrow whose E type had mechanicals but a late entry from Andrew Moore put the number back up to 23 on the day.  Steve Carr does a great job considering all those late entries and changes. Thruxton 8th September 2012 – Race Report Round 8

After last year’s special Memorial meeting at Thruxton for Roy the Circuit organisers had invited us back again as they had been very impressed by the organisation and turn out. I had decided not to make too much of this year’s meeting but many people remember Roy with love and affection, specially us McCarthys and again the atmosphere was warm, as was the weather. (more…)

The seventh round of the Motoring Classics Thoroughbred Championship for 2012 came to Castle Combe for a Bank Holiday meeting run by the Castle Combe Racing Club.   This was a shared grid with the Thoroughbreds and BCV8 Championships in the hope of getting a full grid and a cheap entry. (more…)

Oulton Park International 11th August 2012 – Race Report

The sixth round of the Motoring Classics Thoroughbred Championship for 2012 arrived at Oulton Park for a race on the beautiful International circuit with most competitors having had a gruelling five or six hour journey on Friday on packed motorways.  Russell and I though competing the journey in a comfortable three and three-quarters, although I left at 3.15am on Saturday morning from Banstead driving the car and trailer and Russell came up from Exeter after being at a Friday Wedding competing the journey in the same time up the M5. MGCC Silverstone Live Round 5 – 23rd June 2012

The fifth round of the Motoring Classics Thoroughbred Championship for 2012 was at Silverstone Arena GP circuit just two weeks before the British Grand Prix on the 8th July.   I do hope we have a few hot sunny days to dry out the paddocks and infields or there will be some pretty muddy feet.   The forecast appeared to be wet for the weeks up to Silverstone Live but heavy showers intermingled with cloudy skies was the day’s conclusion however, both practice and race were in bright and dry conditions. Brands Hatch 5th & 6th May 2012, Double Header

Rounds 2 and 3 of the Motoring Classics Thoroughbred Championship were at Brands Hatch on a cold and wet first weekend in May.  Again it was with the M.G. 2012 SEASON starts here – Donington Easter Sunday 8th April

The opening round of the Motoring Classics Thoroughbred Championship for 2012 was at Donington with the M.G. Final Round 10, Snetterton 1st October 2011 MGCC

The final Motoring Classics Thoroughbred Sportscar Championship round for 2011 was with the MGCC at Snetterton on the 2 mile 200 circuit for the first time so all class lap records would be established and the previous Snetterton circuit records would be preserved in a time capsule. The two day event was one of the hottest weekends of the year, 28 degrees at its peak on Saturday.

The Thoroughbred race had 28 entered another great total.  Russell McCarthy out in Dads V8 for the last round as the MGA developed a crack in a bore so needed some surgery over the winter. (more…)
